PATNA: The vehicle of CPM candidate Dr Satyendra Yadav, representing the Grand Alliance from Manjhi Assembly constituency in Saran district was attacked by miscreants during the first phase of Bihar polls on Thursday. The attack resulted in the shattering of his SUV’s windows, creating a chaotic atmosphere in the area. The incident occurred in Jaitpur village under Daudpur police station area, while Yadav was on a tour of his constituency.While visiting polling centres 42 and 43 in Jaitpur, some local people protested his presence. Meanwhile, a verbal altercation broke out between Yadav and some individuals during the voting process. The situation quickly escalated into a scuffle, during which some miscreants present at the scene pelted stones on Yadav’s vehicle and smashed its windows. However, Yadav managed to leave the spot unhurt.Upon receiving information about the incident, administrative officials promptly took action. The Assistant District Prosecution Officer (ADPO), Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR), and Manjhi Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) immediately arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The officials tightened security measures and brought the situation under control.Saran’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kumar Ashish told TOI that, “an FIR was registered against unknown persons in the matter. After the incident, there was a situation of chaos in the area for some time, but now the situation has normalised. Manjhi SDPO along with several police officials reached the incident site upon receiving information.””Strict security arrangements have been put in place at the spot. The candidate and his associates are completely safe. The law and order situation is currently under control and the voting process proceeded peacefully,” he added.
