Emraan: ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood would have earned Rs 700 crore’

‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood would have earned Rs 700 crore at the box office’: Emraan Hashmi explains why Aryan Khan’s series deserved a theatrical release

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, became the talk of the town soon after its OTT release. The web series caught attention for its meta jokes, sharp industry references and multiple cameo appearances by popular stars.Among them, one of the most talked-about cameos was by actor Emraan Hashmi, who appeared as an intimacy coach. His appearance quickly went viral, with fans praising his fun and confident performance.

Emraan Hashmi believes the show could be a blockbuster in cinemas

Speaking to Pinkvilla, the ‘Murder’ actor shared that the show deserved a theatrical release, saying it would have been a blockbuster if released in cinemas. Calling the series “politically incorrect”, Emraan said it was something audiences had never seen before.“You know, the first episode, I was watching with some people. It takes some time to get you in. But then, if you are in for a ride after that, it’s like Wow, this is something unlike anything you have seen. It’s so politically incorrect. It should have come out in theatres. This would have done Rs. 600 – 700 crore at the box office,” he said.

Emraan Hashmi’s cameo became a viral sensation

Hashmi’s short yet memorable role in the show turned into one of the most viral moments online. The actor played a quirky intimacy coach in a hilarious scene that reminded fans of his romantic image from the early 2000s. In one of the most loved scenes, Raghav Juyal’s character Parvaiz meets his idol Emraan and bursts into a spontaneous version of the song ‘Kaho Na Kaho’ from Emraan’s hit film ‘Murder’. Speaking to PTI about the scene’s popularity, Emraan said, “It was a fun scene to do… It just got the recognition and the attention that I didn’t know it was going to get, but it’s great. I’m happy for everyone who’s part of the show. It just has blown up and become this viral thing. This is the image that people used to love me for, they were missing it for a while and then they saw a little glimpse of it and it kind of just blew up. So yeah, it’s fun.”
