The Mukama constituency in Bihar has become one of the most closely watched battlegrounds in the ongoing elections, witnessing a high-voltage contest between the Janata Dal (United) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal. The seat has long been associated with strongmen politics, on one side stands RJD candidate Veena Devi, wife of the notorious strongman Suraj Bhan Singh, while on the other is the JDU camp, supported by former MP Anant Singh. After Anant Singh’s arrest, senior JDU leader and Nitish Kumar’s close aide, Lalan Singh, took charge of the campaign in Mukama. However, his election speeches drew controversy, leading to an FIR being filed against him. Responding to the matter, Singh dismissed the allegations as an attempt to spread misinformation, asserting that the Election Commission’s impartial probe will reveal the truth. On polling day, Lalan Singh was seen waiting in line to cast his vote. Speaking to the media, he described voting as a “festival of democracy,” urging everyone to participate actively. Singh expressed confidence that under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the NDA government would return to power in Bihar with greater strength. Final results will be declared on November 14, ending the speculation around voter perception.
