Michelle Scully, Twitch’s Global Head of Communications, is stepping down after just a year and a half in the role. Her departure marks a major leadership change for the Amazon-owned streaming platform, which has been navigating rapid shifts in the creator and entertainment world. Before Twitch, Scully led brand communications for Amazon Studios and managed consumer communications for Amazon Devices and Alexa. She also spent over a decade at Edelman, where she worked with global brands on storytelling and reputation management.During her tenure, Scully helped shape how Twitch communicates with its global community, media, and fans, strengthening its voice in a fast-moving digital landscape. With her exit, Twitch is now searching for a successor who can continue building its identity while expanding its reach beyond gaming into broader entertainment and cultural spaces.

What has Michelle Scully accomplished during her time at Twitch?

Michelle Scully joined Twitch in March 2024, following Brielle Villablanca’s move to Patreon. Announcing her departure, Scully wrote on LinkedIn, “After an incredible journey at Twitch, I’ve made the difficult decision to move on and pursue a new opportunity. Leaving is bittersweet — working at Twitch is the best job I’ve ever had, and I’ve loved being part of such an amazing team and community.”Her experience at Amazon Studios made her a natural fit for Twitch, where she strengthened the platform’s messaging and helped it navigate a rapidly evolving digital and cultural landscape. Scully’s exit opens the door for a new leader who will help define Twitch’s public identity. The company’s job posting outlines an ambitious vision: “You’ll define how Twitch shows up from traditional media and podcasts, to community forums and the countless places where internet culture is made and conversation happens in real time.” The new hire will report to CMO Rachel Delphin and can work from San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City, or Irvine. The role is central to balancing Twitch’s community-driven identity with its expanding reach in mainstream media and entertainment. Scully laid a strong foundation, and the next communications leader will need to continue shaping the platform’s voice, ensuring it stays authentic while navigating its next phase of growth. Also read: Is Justin Bieber quitting music?
