Rare moment: Shruti Haasan sings to Asha Bhosle

When Shruti Haasan shared a priceless photo of herself singing to Asha Bhosle

Back in March 2020, Shruti Haasan delighted her fans by sharing a truly priceless throwback photo. The actress and singer took to her Instagram to repost a rare monochrome picture from one of her fan clubs, capturing a core memory from her school days: singing for the legendary Asha Bhosle.

A ‘nervous’ fan moment

The black-and-white photo shows a young Shruti, dressed neatly in her school uniform with her hair pulled back by a band. She is seen singing, clearly nervous, in front of the iconic singer. The post was initially shared on one of Shruti’s fan clubs which was reposted by her on her Instagram page.In her original caption, Shruti expressed her excitement about rediscovering the image. “I LOVE THIS PICTURE,” she wrote. “I even remember this day and being so so nervous to sing in front of the legend herself! Such a beautiful memory.” She also made sure to thank the fan club for finding and sharing the gem.

A lifelong musical journey

While the moment captured her nervousness, Shruti was no stranger to the world of music, even at that young age. The star, daughter of Kamal Haasan, sang her first-ever song at just six years old for her father’s 1992 film ‘Kshatriya Putrudu’, with music composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja. She later lent her voice to other popular songs, including the evergreen ‘Chupadi Chupadi Chaachi’ from ‘Chachi 420’ and ‘Rama Rama’ from ‘Hey Ram’, proving her musical talent long before she became a leading lady.Over the years, she built a prolific career as a playback singer alongside her acting, delivering hits like ‘Kannazhaga Kaalazhaga’ from ‘3’, ‘Junction Lo’ from ‘Aagadu’, and ‘Yendi Yendi’ from ‘Puli’. Her most recent major role as an actress was in the Rajinikanth starrer, ‘Coolie’, which hit theaters in August 2025.
