Fame and stardom are fickle and how, one has often seen that within Bollywood. Many faces who once rose to stardom are now living a life that people aren’t even aware about. Case in point, Shiney Ahuja. The actor has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry in some really memorable movies – including ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ with Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, ‘Gangster’, ‘Woh Lamhe’ and ‘Life In A Metro’. However, Shiney saw a downfall in his career after being convicted in a rape case. Ahuja reportedly has left India now and is running a garment business in Philippines. Shiney was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in 2011 for raping his maid. Born in Delhi to an Army family, Shiney Ahuja grew up with discipline and a focus on studies. After finishing his education, he started working in advertising, where his charm and confidence quickly got him noticed. He went on to feature in more than 40 commercials and a hit Stereo Nation music video. His big break came with a Pepsi ad that caught filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s attention, leading to his debut in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005). The film earned him strong reviews and marked him as a promising new actor.Shiney followed it up with hits like Gangster (2006), Woh Lamhe (2006), Life in a… Metro (2007), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). He was praised by both critics and audiences and was seen as one of Bollywood’s rising stars. But in 2009, his career came crashing down after he was accused of raping his 19-year-old house help. The case shocked the industry. Shiney was arrested and spent months in jail before getting bail.Even though the complainant later took back her statement, the damage was done. In 2011, he was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison, though he maintained his innocence and filed an appeal. Today, Shiney Ahuja lives a quiet life away from fame. Reports say he’s settled in the Philippines, running a garment business, far removed from his once-promising Bollywood career. His current picture has now gone viral on the internet. He made a short comeback with Welcome Back (2015), but by then, the industry had moved on.
