Ayushmann: I touch Sooraj ji’s feet before starting our conversation

Ayushmann Khurrana: I touch Sooraj ji’s feet before starting our conversation- Exclusive

Fresh off the success of ‘Thamma’, Ayushmann Khurrana is teaming up with legendary director Sooraj Barjatya for an untitled family drama. Khurrana expressed deep admiration for Barjatya’s pure filmmaking approach and the genre’s current scarcity. Sharvari will star opposite him in the film, set to begin shooting soon, continuing Barjatya’s tradition of value-driven storytelling.

Riding high on the success of Thamma which is inching towards Rs 100 crore mark, Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to embark on a new journey with Sooraj Barjatya who is known for films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun! , Hum Saath Saath Hain ,Vivah and many more. Actress Sharvari is paired opposite Ayushmann and the untitled film is slated to go on floors in the next few days. Known for his unique choice of roles and strong scripts, Ayushmann seems genuinely moved by the opportunity to work with the legendary director, whose films have shaped generations of Indian cinema. Speaking about Barjatya, Ayushmann said: “Sooraj Ji is a very saintly person. He is somebody you will revere not just because he is one of the best filmmakers in the country, but also the kind of person he is. Despite being in the industry for so long, he is a veteran filmmaker. Still, there is an emotion of vulnerability and purity in him. He is not swayed by the commercial aspects or materialistic aspects of life.”“He still keeps it very real, simple and pure when it comes to filmmaking. That’s what really attracted me towards this project, this film. And also, there is a dearth of this genre right now. Pure family bonding. I think Sooraj Ji is a master of that genre. And whenever I meet him, I touch his feet. And then we start the conversation” he added. Sooraj Barjatya who recently won the National Award for his last film Uunchai with Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta is known for his rooted, value-driven storytelling that celebrates love, family and relationships. His upcoming film with Ayushmann is said to carry forward this legacy, exploring emotions and connections that define Indian families in a changing world.Thamma marked Ayushmann Khurrana’s first release in two years, following his last outing Dream Girl 2, which went on to mint over Rs100 crore at the box office. The actor now has an exciting lineup ahead, including Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan, and Wamiqa Gabbi. In addition, Ayushmann is also part of an upcoming project that brings Karan Johar and Guneet Monga for the first time.
