Pradeep Ranganathan’s ‘Dude’ continued its theatrical run into its second week, witnessing a dip in numbers on its eleventh day but maintaining a respectable overall tally. The romantic entertainer, directed by Keerthiswaran, collected Rs 1.40 crore (early estimates) on Monday, bringing its India net total to Rs 66.80 crore across all languages.
Steady run despite dip in week two
According to the Sacnilk website, the film’s first week fetched an impressive Rs 56.5 crores. However, the second Monday saw a noticeable decline. ‘Dude’ recorded an overall occupancy of 14.48% on October 27. The Telugu version saw around 12.77%.
Occupancy
Morning shows opened at 12.11% occupancy in Tamil. The film gradually improved through the day, peaking at 16.03% during night shows. The Telugu version followed a similar pattern.
Performances and chemistry keep viewers engaged
According to the ETimes review, Dude thrives on its grounded storytelling and the natural chemistry between its leads Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju. An excerpt from our review for the film reads, “Sarath Kumar, who plays Mamitha’s father and Pradeep’s uncle, clearly shines in a dynamic role that gives him a chance to flex his range. The supporting cast are solid and so are the leads. Pradeep brings in his trademark boy-next-door charm in the film. It’s commendable how the actor always manages to find a new dimension to being the boy next door with each of his new films. Mamitha is terrific. The actress has dubbed for herself and it has added a sense of authenticity to her character.”It is to be seen whether ‘Dude’ can maintain its streak through the coming weekend and push closer to the Rs 75-crore milestone.
