‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ becomes 8th biggest Hindi dubbed grossers

‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ beats Prabhas’s 'Saaho' to become the 8th biggest Hindi dubbed grossers

Mahavatar Narsimha is creating waves at the Hindi box office, earning Rs 147.3 crore in 22 days. Surpassing Saaho, it now ranks 8th among highest-grossing Hindi dubbed films. The film’s success is attributed to strong word-of-mouth, a compelling religious narrative, and repeat viewings, despite competition from War 2. Its performance highlights the power of content over massive marketing campaigns.

Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha is rewriting the record books at the Hindi box office. On its 22nd day, the film’s Hindi version has amassed a staggering Rs 147.3 crore net, thereby surpassing Saaho (Rs 142.95 crore) and claiming the 7th spot in the all-time highest-grossing Hindi dubbed films list. The film, which opened modestly at Rs 1.35 crore on Day 1, steadily grew on the back of extraordinary word of mouth. By its first weekend, the Hindi version had already collected Rs 21.35 crore, with Sunday alone contributing Rs 6.8 crore. The strong momentum continued through the weekdays, with collections staying above the Rs 4-6 crore range, a clear indicator of the film’s hold across single screens and multiplexes alike. The real fireworks began in its second weekend. Day 9 saw Mahavatar Narsimha soar to Rs 11.5 crore, followed by a massive Rs 17.5 crore on Day 10 (second Sunday). This propelled the Hindi version into a league of its own, showing growth levels rarely seen for dubbed releases. Even into its third weekend, the film remained a powerhouse. Day 16 delivered Rs 116.25 crore, followed by Rs 18 crore on Day 17 (third Sunday). Despite expected weekday dips thereafter, the film continued to collect consistently, recording Rs 6.15 crore on Day 22 and pushing its Hindi total to Rs 147.3 crore. The film was able to earn more than Rs 6 crore in Hindi that is despite Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 dominating most screens as it minted nearly Rs 44 crore on the Independence day. With this, Mahavatar Narsimha has crossed Saaho to become the 8th biggest Hindi dubbed grossers of all time. The updated list stands as:

  1. Pushpa 2 – The Rule : Rs 830.10 crore
  2. Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion : Rs 510.99 crore
  3. KGF Chapter 2 : Rs 434.70 crore
  4. Kalki 2898 AD : Rs 294.25 crore
  5. RRR: Rs 274.31 crore
  6. 2.0: Rs 189.55 crore
  7. Salaar – Rs 153.84 crore
  8. Mahavatar Narsimha – Rs 147.3 crore
  9. Saaho – Rs 142.95 crore
  10. Baahubali – The Beginning – Rs 118.70 crore

What makes this feat remarkable is that Mahavatar Narsimha achieved it without the massive release size or marketing blitz of big-ticket pan-India spectacles like Saaho or 2.0. Instead, it relied purely on strong content, audience connect, and repeat viewings. Its religious-mythological narrative struck a chord across age groups, turning it into a movement rather than just a film.
