Thamma is Ayushmann’s 5th biggest hit

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma’ beats ‘Andhadhun’ to become his 5th biggest hit

Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest cinematic offering, Thamma, is dominating the box office, swiftly overtaking Andhadhun’s entire collection just six days post-release. With its unique blend of horror and comedy, this film has already grossed an impressive Rs 91.70 crore and is gearing up to be Khurrana’s fifth blockbuster hitting the Rs 100 crore milestone.

Ayushmann Khurrana is carrying forward the success of Dream Girl 2 with his latest film Thamma which is very rapidly rising the charts of his successful films. With just 6 days the film has minted Rs 91.70 crore and has become the 5th biggest hit of his career displacing Sriram Raghavan’s Andhadhun from the spot which had a lifetime collection of Rs 74.32 crore. Andhadhun has been one of the career defining roles of Ayushmann which not only proved his talent but also got him many awards. Going by the trend Thamma is all set to be his 5th Rs 100 crore grosser. Thamma released on the occasion of Diwali opened to a stellar collection of Rs 24 crore, on day 2 the collection dipped a little to Rs 18.6 crore. On day 3, the numbers further fell to Rs 13 crore with day 4 clocking only Rs 10 crore. This is the usual trend for Diwali releases. They open big but then witness drops as people are busy with festivities and spending time with family and friends, this is also the reason why in the recent past Diwali has ceased to be a very good outing for film releases as compared to early 2000s which saw the biggest of films vying for Diwali release dates. But on day 5 which was a Saturday the collections jumped to Rs 13.1 crore and on day 6 ( Sunday) the numbers stayed steady with Rs 13 crore collection. And with that the total collection of the film stands at Rs 91.70 crore and it is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the following couple of days.Ayushmann is all set to start his next film which is with Sooraj Barjatiya, Sharvari is paired opposite him. His next release is going to be Pati Patni Aur Woh Dono with Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh.Thamma is part of Horror-Comedy Universe which already features names like Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya. Thamma had a stellar cast of Rashmika Mandanna , Paresh Rawal, Geeta Agarwal Sharma, Nawazuddin Siddiqui with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee.
