Demi says Tom Cruise was embarrased by her pregnancy

Demi Moore says Tom Cruise was embarrassed by her pregnancy when they were shooting for 'A Few Good Men': 'It was a bit awkward'

Demi Moore recently opened up about an unforgettable moment she shared with her ‘A Few Good Men’ co-star Tom Cruise, offering a glimpse into her experience of working while pregnant. Speaking with writer Jia Tolentino at the New Yorker Festival on October 25, 2025, Moore revealed that she was nearly eight months pregnant with her daughter, Scout Willis, during the film’s preproduction.“I think Tom was quite embarrassed,” Moore recalled with a laugh. “I actually felt okay about it. I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.”The actress reflected that Cruise’s reaction reflected the culture of the early ’90s, when it was rare for women in Hollywood to be expecting a child while leading a major film. At that time, Moore was one of the few actresses managing both motherhood and a thriving career, according to People.“It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, ‘Why not? Why can’t you have both?’” she said. Moore, now starring in The Substance, admitted that she put immense pressure on herself to prove that women could balance career and family life.Looking back, she acknowledged how demanding that period was. “I look back at that time now, and I go, ‘What the f*** was I thinking?’” Moore said, recalling the challenge of rehearsing scenes while heavily pregnant. She added that she was “an overachiever,” juggling work commitments with motherhood—even breastfeeding and blocking scenes soon after giving birth. Moore noted that Hollywood has since evolved, becoming far more accommodating toward working mothers than it was in the early 1990s.During her preparation to play a Navy lawyer in A Few Good Men, Moore maintained an exceptionally active routine despite being close to her due date. “I did a two-and-a-half-hour hike the day my water broke, a 24-mile bike ride, and danced at a reggae club, hence why she came two-and-a-half weeks early,” the Indecent Proposal star said, recalling the whirlwind energy of that chapter in her life.
