NEW DELHI: Maharashtra chief ministerDevendra Fadnavis on Saturday assured strict action against those found guilty in the suicide of a woman doctor in Satara.Fadnavis also warned against politicising the issue.Speaking to reporters, he said, “This is a very serious issue. Strict action will be taken… Politicising such a sensitive issue is very insensitive,” the CM added. The woman doctor, identified as Dr Sampada Mundhe, died by suicide on Friday. She left a note on her palm naming two people, including a police official. Following this, Satara police registered a case under charges of rape and abetment to suicide. The accused police sub-inspector has been suspended.Prashant Bankar, one of the two accused, has been arrested and will be produced in court, Satara Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi said. “The other accused, Police Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne, is still absconding, and a search is underway to nab him,” he added, as quoted by ANI. Dr Mundhe’s relatives alleged that she faced pressure regarding her work. One cousin said, “There was a lot of police and political pressure on her to make wrong mortem reports. She tried to complain about it. My sister should get justice.”Another relative demanded, “The accused should get the strictest of punishment.”
