‘I have two lovely homes’: Sara Ali Khan once revealed how she celebrates Diwali with mum Amrita Singh and dad Saif Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan has always been a lively presence during Diwali, whether it’s posting pictures of family celebrations or attending parties in stunning traditional outfits. The ‘Kedarnath’ actress makes sure to enjoy the festival fully, celebrating in both her parents’ homes and keeping the spirit of Diwali alive with family, friends, sweets, and lights.

What do Sara Ali Khan’s Diwali celebrations look like?

In a past chat with Bombay Times, the ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ actress shared, “It begins with spending as much time as I can with my mother (Amrita Singh) and my brother (Ibrahim). Mom and I enjoy decorating our house, we make rangolis, light the house with diyas and do Lakshmi puja. Then, I head to my father’s (Saif Ali Khan) home. I have two lovely homes, and it is important to celebrate, love and brighten them both.”

Talking about her family home in Pataudi, Sara recalled, “My brother and I used to spend time with our entire family in Pataudi. Being there with badi amma (grandmother Sharmila Tagore), my aunts and parents, and subsequently with my father, has always been lovely. Pataudi is our ancestral home, and Diwali there was all about celebrating over food, fun and laughter with family.”

The ‘Simmba’ actress also spoke about Diwali parties in the film industry. She revealed, “The first Diwali party I attended was probably with my mother and brother at the Bachchans’ home. There are other Diwali parties, like Abu-Sandeep’s (Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla) and Manish’s (Malhotra) parties, that we go to. It is always nice to celebrate with your industry friends.” From family gatherings to high-profile parties, Sara enjoys both sides of the festival, balancing tradition with glamour.

What is Sara Ali Khan’s favourite mithai?

No Diwali is complete without sweets, Sara revealed, “Besan ke laddoos (gram flour ladoos) are my personal favourite and my mom loves imartis (popular Indian sweet). My closest friend comes from Delhi and brings the sweets for us.”
