S. Janaki’s granddaughter remembers veteran singer as ‘A loving grandmother’; Requests privacy

Legendary playback singer S. Janaki passed away on July 11, Saturday at the age of 88. The news of her demise was shared by her granddaughter Apsara Vydyula.She wrote on social media, “Dear everyone, It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved grandmother and legendary singer, Smt. S. Janaki. She left us peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. While our hearts are heavy, we are also filled with gratitude for the extraordinary life she lived and the immeasurable joy she brought to millions through her timeless music.”Apsara added, “To the world, she was an iconic voice whose songs became part of countless memories. To us, she was a loving grandmother whose warmth, humility, kindness, and grace will remain with us forever.”

Family requests privacy during difficult time

Along with announcing the singer’s passing, Apsara also appealed for privacy as the family mourns its loss. She thanked well-wishers for their support and prayers during the difficult period.She added, “We kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time as we grieve and come to terms with this loss. Thank you for your love, prayers, and understanding. Apsara Vydyula.”

Rajinikanth, M.K. Stalin and Kamal Haasan pay tribute

Several prominent personalities from cinema and politics paid tribute to the legendary singer soon after the news became public. Superstar Rajinikanth wrote on social media, “The voice that gave life to countless melodies has fallen silent. S Janaki Amma’s contribution to Indian music is unparalleled. My heartfelt condolences to her family. May her soul rest in peace.”M.K. Stalin wrote, “S Janaki’s voice was a gift to Tamil cinema and beyond. Her melodies brought joy to millions. The state mourns this great loss.”

Kamal Haasan remembers the legendary singer

Actor and politician Kamal Haasan also paid an emotional tribute to the veteran playback singer.He said, “S Janaki was not just a singer; she was the voice of generations. Her songs will continue to echo in our hearts. An irreplaceable loss to the Indian music world. My deepest condolences to her family.”S. Janaki’s career remains one of the most celebrated in Indian music history.
