When Amar Singh made shocking claims about the Bachchans

‘Amitabh and Jaya were living separately’: When Amar Singh made shocking claims, ‘I am accused of making Aishwarya and Jaya fight’

Bollywood’s iconic couple Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have long been celebrated for their strong bond and enduring relationship. Blessed with two children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan, the couple has stood by each other through thick and thin for over 50 years. However, the late politician Amar Singh, once a close family friend, had stirred a conversation regarding the Bachchans’ personal lives. In a 2017 interview with ABP News, Singh revealed that Amitabh and Jaya were living separately, with Amitabh staying in Pratiksha and Jaya in Janak. Singh clarified that this arrangement predated his acquaintance with the Bachchans, stating, “I am accused of making Aishwarya and Jaya Bachchan fight. For everything bad happening around, I am being held responsible. Even before I met Bachchans, Amitabh and Jaya were living in separate houses. One of them was living in Pratiksha and the other lived in Janak. When I was with them, then too they weren’t living together.”

Amar Singh apologizes in 2020 before his passing

Amar Singh, who had helped the Bachchans during tough times and was instrumental in Jaya Bachchan’s political journey, later expressed regret over his remarks. In 2020, while receiving treatment for a kidney ailment in Singapore, he tendered a public apology via video and Twitter, saying he was “fighting a battle of life and death” and regretted his “overreaction” towards the Bachchans.

He tweeted, “Today is my father’s death anniversary & I got a message for the same from @SrBachchan ji. At this stage of life when I am fighting a battle of life & death I regret for my over reaction against Amit ji & family. God bless them all.” Amar Singh passed away in August 2020 at the age of 64, leaving behind memories of his closeness with the Bachchan family and his role in several chapters of their personal and political lives.
