SSKT mints over Rs 57 crore ahead of Diwali

‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ box office collection day 17: Varun Dhawan’s rom-com mints over Rs 57 crore ahead of Diwali

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ released in cinemas on 2 October 2025 during the Dusshera holiday. The flim clashed with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Despite a promising start, its performance has been average compared to its potential.According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 1.10 crore on day 17, taking its total India net collection to Rs 57.20 crore.

Film opened strong but faced early dip

The Shashank Khaitan directorial started its journey with a decent Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day. However, the momentum dropped quickly as Friday collections fell to Rs 5.5 crore. A brief weekend push brought in Rs 7.5 crore each on Saturday and Sunday, but the following weekdays saw a decline with earnings ranging between Rs 2–3 crore.Discounted ticket rates helped midweek figures slightly, with the film collecting Rs 3.25 crore on Tuesday, Rs 2.25 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 2 crore on Thursday. By the end of its first week, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ had made Rs 41.1 crore.

Second week sees mild weekend recovery

In its second week, the film witnessed only minor growth. It earned Rs 2.25 crore on Friday, Rs 3.25 crore on Saturday (day 10), and another Rs 3.25 crore on Sunday (day 11). However, weekday numbers continued to decline, with Monday bringing in Rs 1.25 crore, Tuesday Rs 1.5 crore, and Wednesday Rs 1 crore. By day 15, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ slipped to Rs 90 lakh. On day 16, it managed to pick up slightly, earning Rs 1 crore.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ dominates the box office

While ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ maintained a modest run, its box office clash with ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ limited its potential. The Rishab Shetty-starrer, as per Sacnilk, crossed a massive Rs 500 crore at the Indian box office by day 17, collecting Rs 12.50 crore on that day alone.

About ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’

Written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film follows Sunny Sanskari (Varun Dhawan) and Tulsi Kumari (Janhvi Kapoor), two heartbroken individuals who decide to team up after being dumped by their partners. Together, they hatch a mischievous plan to crash a wedding, that of Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) and Vikram (Rohit Saraf), in hopes of winning their exes back.

‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ review

According to The Times of India review, which rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, the first half is breezy and entertaining. A part of the review reads, “The first half breezes by with hilarious moments, largely thanks to Sunny and Tulsi’s antics and the witty banter between Sunny’s buddy Bantu (Abhinav Sharma) and the goofy wedding planner, Kuku (Maniesh Paul). However, while there are still comic sequences that land well, the overall pacing dips after the interval. The editing by Manan Sagar and Charu Shree Roy feels uneven in parts, particularly during the jungle safari sequence and a few flashback scenes. Similarly, the portrayal of Vikram’s snobbish family and the cracks beneath their seemingly perfect façade come across as a little forced and underdeveloped.” Go to Source
