'The Jetsons': Jim Carrey in talks to play George Jetson in live-action film

Live-action versions of popular animated shows are a common thing in Hollywood. One of the most anticipated upcoming projects is a film on the Cartoon Network series ‘The Jetsons’, and as per the latest development, actor Jim Carrey is in discussion to headline the movie.According to the reports, Jim is in talks to star as George Jetson in the live-action version of the show. Early reports have confirmed that Colin Trevorrow has been roped in to direct the film.For the unversed, Trevorrow has directed movies like ‘Jurassic World’ (2015), ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ (2018), ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ (2022), ‘The Book of Henry’ (2017), and more in the past. As per the report, he will also co-write the film with Joe Epstein.Meanwhile, the production house has not announced or shared when the film will go on floors or its release date.The live-action version of the show has been a discussion since the early 2000s. According to the reports, earlier directors Adam Shankman, Robert Rodriguez, and Conrad Vernon were associated with the potential project, which never took off.

‘The Jetsons’ is set in a utopian future with George Jetson as the protagonist. He lives with his wife, Jane, and their two children. The family also includes robot housekeeper Rosie and their pet dog Astro. The series was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

Actors like Ben Schwartz, Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, and Keanu Reeves were also part of the project. The film released in the year 2024 and earned over USD 492 million at the box office worldwide.
