Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has expressed its interest in acquiring 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, Maharashtra, as part of its plan to expand manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its supply chain network, according to news agency PTI .

The Mumbai-based automaker, which already operates plants in Nashik and Igatpuri, has submitted a letter of interest to the state government, M&M Executive Director and CEO for Auto and Farm Sectors Rajesh Jejurikar said.

“The land parcel could be used for multiple purposes, including setting up a supplier park or facilities to support our Nashik and Igatpuri plants,” Jejurikar told reporters, adding that the proposal is at a preliminary stage and subject to due diligence, regulatory clearances, and internal approvals.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of M&M’s Automotive Division, said the company is also boosting production capacity at its Chakan plant by around 2.4 lakh units in the first phase this year, taking the facility’s annual output to 7.5–7.6 lakh units. Plans for greenfield sites to further expand capacity beyond 2027 are also under consideration.
