Rakhi Sawant and ex-husband Adil settle dispute

Rakhi Sawant and ex-husband Adil Durrani settle dispute; Bombay HC quashes cross-FIRs

Actress and media personality Rakhi Sawant has finally found closure in her long-standing legal battle with ex-husband Adil Durrani. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday quashed the cross-FIRs filed by the former couple after both confirmed that they had resolved their differences amicably. As reported by PTI, Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Sandesh Patil said, “In view of the amicable settlement, there is no need to keep the FIRs pending. The FIRs and subsequent charge sheets are quashed.” The case had reportedly originated from a matrimonial dispute.

Rakhi Sawant and Adil Durrani attend hearing

Both Sawant and Durrani were present in the courtroom during the hearing. When asked, they told the bench that they had no objection to the FIRs being quashed. As reported by India Today, Rakhi’s complaint had accused Adil of criminal intimidation, harassment, and unnatural s*x. Adil, on the other hand, had filed a case claiming that Rakhi defamed him by sharing obscene videos of him.The two, who had married in 2022, filed their respective FIRs in February 2023 after announcing their separation publicly.

Court refrains from imposing any penalties

While quashing the complaints, the court decided not to impose any costs on either side. The bench made it clear that since the matter arose out of a personal dispute between husband and wife, there was no need for further penalties. The court also noted that both parties had agreed to abide by the conditions of their settlement. “Needless to say that both the parties are to abide by the undertaking given by them,” the judges said. This undertaking includes a condition that neither Rakhi nor Adil will make any further allegations against each other or talk about the matter publicly.

Adil Durrani and Rakhi express no objection in court

The report further reveals, as part of the proceedings, Adil Durrani told the court, “I don’t have any objection to the quashing of the FIR.” Similarly, Rakhi Sawant stated in court that she had no objection to the quashing of the FIR registered by her as well as the chargesheet filed by Oshiwara police station. The bench accepted these submissions and concluded that both cases should be closed. “The dispute is a matrimonial dispute that has been amicably settled by the parties. Considering the settlement, the petitions are allowed and the cases are quashed,” said the court.

Rakhi Sawant celebrates freedom after court order

After the hearing, Rakhi stepped outside the court, visibly relieved. When media persons questioned her, she broke into her trademark dramatic style. As quoted by India Today, she said, “Donald Trump ki beti hoon main, unki jai, Jai Salman Khan bhai, Bharat Mata ki jai, Modi sarkar ki jai, main aaj azad ho gayi (I am Donald Trump’s daughter, hail him! Hail brother Salman Khan! Victory to Mother India! Victory to the Modi government! I have become free today.)Meanwhile, as per reports, Rakhi and Adil are also in the process of divorce proceedings.
