New Zealand to cut seats reserved for Maoris in council by more than half after public vote

The number of guaranteed Māori seats on New Zealand councils will be cut by more than half after a new law forced communities to vote on whether to keep the wards, local reports say. The move marks a major shift in Indigenous representation.
