A stampede-like situation erupted at Bardhaman railway station in West Bengal on Sunday evening, leaving several passengers injured. The chaos began when a woman slipped on the overbridge stairs amid a large crowd, triggering panic as people rushed to move safely. The incident occurred as multiple trains arrived at the station simultaneously, causing heavy congestion on the foot-overbridge. Passengers struggled to maintain balance while climbing and descending the stairs, leading to falls and a chaotic scene. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and station staff promptly intervened, taking the injured to Bardhaman Medical College and Hospital. Railway authorities have ordered an investigation and promised additional safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
