Asian Andy asks Twitch to lift 9-year ban after ExtraEmily driving controversy

Asian Andy asks Twitch to lift 9-year ban after ExtraEmily driving controversy

The recent suspension of Twitch streamer ExtraEmily has brought back an old case involving fellow creator Asian Andy. After ExtraEmily received a 24-hour ban over a driving clip, Asian Andy reminded people that he has been permanently banned from Twitch for almost nine years because of a driving-related incident. The longtime IRL streamer shared his latest appeal online and asked Twitch to give him another chance. His posts quickly caught attention, leading many people to discuss whether older permanent bans should still stay in place under Twitch’s current rules.

Asian Andy asks Twitch to end his 9-year Twitch ban after ExtraEmily controversy

Asian Andy took to X to ask Twitch to remove the permanent ban that has kept him off the platform since 2017. He joked that he was still banned for “eating chicken nuggets and driving” and said he only wants to return to stream games like MapleStory. Later, Andy shared a screenshot from Twitch’s Appeals Portal. The image showed that his account is still marked as “Indefinitely Suspended.” It also showed that the enforcement was issued on May 25, 2017.The listed reason for the punishment was “Dangerous or Distracted Driving.” According to the notice, the violation involved interfering with the safe operation of a vehicle while streaming. The screenshot also showed the punishment had a “Severity: Max” label. After some people claimed there must have been another reason behind the ban, Andy denied those claims. He said the suspension happened because he was eating chicken nuggets while driving during a livestream. He also claimed that he sends a new appeal every few months, but Twitch has rejected each one.

ExtraEmily’s ban brings driving streams back into the spotlight

The conversation around Andy’s suspension started again because of ExtraEmily’s recent Twitch ban. She received a 24-hour suspension after a viral clip showed her looking away from the road while making a turn. The clip sparked concern online because another vehicle was nearby. After returning, ExtraEmily said she plans to drive much less while streaming. She also said she will turn off chat if she ever goes live while driving again. The incident has also led to a bigger discussion about driving streams on Twitch. Streamer Asmongold is among those who believe the platform should ban driving streams completely because of the safety risks.Twitch’s current Community Guidelines clearly say that dangerous or distracted driving is not allowed during streams. The rules say streamers cannot read chat messages or physically interact with streaming equipment while driving. However, the platform does allow creators to listen to text-to-speech messages and reply using their voice. At the time of writing, Twitch has not publicly responded to Asian Andy’s latest request to have his account restored.Asian Andy’s latest appeal has once again put Twitch’s old enforcement decisions under the spotlight. While the platform has not commented on his request, the discussion continues as more people debate whether permanent bans from years ago should be reviewed, especially as Twitch continues to enforce strict rules against distracted driving on stream.
