With this, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has emerged as the second-highest-grossing Kannada film ever, standing only behind KGF: Chapter 2, which remains the industry benchmark with a staggering ₹1250 crore worldwide haul. The film also outperformed other recent blockbusters such as Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ (₹413 crore) and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ (₹411 crore), thus, it’s got the position of one of the biggest money-spinners, not just this year, but the last few years.
