Sharmila ditched a car, hopped on to a bike at 80 to reach an event

Sharmila Tagore ditched her car and hopped on to a bike to reach a book launch event on time, reveals Soha Ali Khan: 'Amma you are 80'

Sharmila Tagore continues to have childlike energy and enthusiasm even at the age of 80 and Soha Ali Khan has now shared an incident which completely is a testament to that. Tagore was last seen in the Bengali film ‘Puratawn’, post which she also said that it may be her last Bengali film due to health reasons. Before that, she was seen in ‘Gulmohar’ along with Manoj Bajpayee. As the actress continues to woo fans on screen, she’s always lived her life at her own terms off-screen. She stays alone in Delhi most times. In a recent interview, Soha spoke about her mother. She said in an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, “She was going to a book launch and there was too much traffic, so she got out of her car, hailed a woman on a scooter, and asked her to drop her closer to the venue. Then she got off that scooter, stopped someone else on a bike, and hopped on to reach near the event. I was like, ‘Amma, you are 80, and this is Delhi!’”Soha added what Sharmila Tagore told her, “She told me,’That person dropped me halfway, and I walked the rest of the way to the book launch.’” The ‘Rang De Basanti’ actress recently celebrated her birthday and she was joined by her mom Sharmila for the celebrations. The actor spent time with her mom and sister Saba Ali Pautadi. Sharmila Tagore was diagnosed with lung cancer, but thankfully, it was caught at stage zero. This early detection meant she could avoid chemotherapy, and the tumour was successfully removed through surgery. She revealed that on Karan Johar’s show ‘Koffee With Karan’ while she said that she was offered ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ but couldn’t do it because of it. Once she regained her health, Sharmila made a long-awaited comeback to Bengali cinema after 18 years with Suman Ghosh’s psychological drama ‘Puratawn’. The film went on to become the fifth highest-grossing Bengali release of the year, earning her widespread critical acclaim for her performance. The veteran star, however, has not yet revealed details about her next project.
