Breaking: Heavy Snowfall And Rain Hit Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh And Uttarakhand, Temperatures Plunge

October has brought early winter conditions to northern India, with heavy snowfall and rainfall affecting Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. In Jammu & Kashmir, Sonmarg in Gandarbal district witnessed its first snowfall of the season, blanketing mountains and valleys in white. Anantnag’s Sindhan Top and Pahalgam also recorded significant snowfall, leading to road closures and challenging travel conditions. Despite the disruptions, tourists are enjoying the picturesque winter landscapes, with roads and valleys covered in pristine snow.Himachal Pradesh is experiencing similar weather, particularly in Manali and Shimla, where three days of snowfall and rainfall have caused a drop in temperatures and slippery roads. The snow has added to the scenic charm, attracting visitors eager to witness the winter wonderland. In Uttarakhand, Kedar Nath and Hemkund Sahib are covered in fresh snow, with resorts, hotels, and mountain paths blanketed, enhancing the visual spectacle but also affecting mobility.Authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution due to low visibility and slippery roads in hilly regions. The India Meteorological Department warns that snowfall and rainfall may continue in these areas, while road clearance and safety measures are underway. These developments mark the onset of winter, bringing both challenges and breathtaking beauty across northern India’s mountainous regions.
