Chay: Angry Sobhita didn’t talk for days over ‘Bujji’

Naga Chaitanya reveals angry Sobhita Dhulipala didn’t talk to him for days over ‘Bujji Thalli’; says he can’t live without her

Naga Chaitanya, who has mostly kept his relationship with wife Sobhita Dhulipala away from the spotlight, opened up like never before during his recent appearance on Jagapathi Babu’s talk show Jayammu Nischayammuraa. The actor got candid about his love story, revealed Sobhita’s adorable nickname, and even recalled a small argument that followed one of his film releases. The Thandel star shared that “Bujji” is what he affectionately calls Sobhita — a name that ended up creating unexpected drama between the two. “She was so angry that she didn’t speak to me for a few days. She thought I asked the director (Chandoo Mondeti) to include the phrase ‘Bujji Thalli’ in the film, but why would I do that?” Chaitanya laughed. “A relationship isn’t real if the couple doesn’t fight,” he added.

‘We met on Instagram’

While the couple has always maintained a low profile, Chaitanya shared how their romance began in the most modern way possible. “We met on Instagram. I never imagined I’d meet my partner there. I already knew her work. One day, when I posted about Shoyu (his cloud kitchen), she commented with an emoji. I replied, we started chatting, and soon met in person,” he said.

‘I can’t live without Sobhita’

In a lighthearted rapid-fire segment, when Jagapathi Babu asked what’s the one thing he couldn’t live without, Chaitanya smiled and said, “Sobhita, my wife.” He went on to say that he wouldn’t trade his life with anyone else’s because he’s content where he is. After a difficult phase marked by flops like Thank You, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Custody, Chaitanya bounced back with Thandel, which gave him his first Rs 100-crore hit. The film, co-starring Sai Pallavi and based on a true story of fishermen who accidentally drift into Pakistani waters, also earned him praise for his rustic transformation. Chaitanya and Sobhita tied the knot in December 2024 in an intimate ceremony at Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad, after dating for two years. The actor was previously married to Samantha Ruth Prabhu from 2017 to 2021.
