In 2015, SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, was released to great acclaim. It was followed by ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ in 2017, which became a box office success. Now, to mark the 10th anniversary of the release of the first part, the two parts will be combined and re-released on October 31st under the title ‘Baahubali: The Epic’.
Netflix removes Hindi and English versions of ‘Baahubali’
But, along with this re-release announcement, another interesting change has also caught the attention of fans. Both parts of ‘Baahubali’ were available on Netflix in Hindi and English versions. Now, those versions have been suddenly removed, raising questions about whether the removal was deliberate ahead of the release of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’.
Director Rajamouli pauses current project to focus on ‘Baahubali: The Epic’
Rajamouli has temporarily halted his current filming for this new version and is currently working on the final editing of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’. “Rajamouli is working on the final touches to make Baahubali even better. Creating the Epic Cut was as challenging as making a new film. The entire team has worked hard for it,” said the film’s producer recently on his social media page.
Telugu and Tamil versions still streaming on OTT
Meanwhile, the Telugu and Tamil versions are still available on a popular platform, but fans are also wondering if these will also be removed as the re-release date approaches. Notably, ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ is scheduled to be released in theaters in larger formats including IMAX. The removal from OTT is seen as a planned strategy to increase theater attendance. The team’s aim is to make the film a big success at the box office again.
Record-breaking box office cement Baahubali’s place
‘Baahubali’ also stars Anushka, Ramya Krishan, Sathyaraj, Tamannah, Rohini, and others, and the film’s music was composed by MM Keeravani. ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ is one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema by grossing over Rs 1820 crore worldwide, while both parts have jointly earned over Rs 2450 crore to hold a majestic box office record.
