SSKTK earns just USD 173,000 over three days in NA

Varun Dhawan’s 'Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari' earns just USD 173,000 over three days in North America

Varun Dhawan’s new film Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari collects 22 crore rupees in India. North American earnings total 173,000 US dollars. The film faces strong competition. Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 earns 1.95 million US dollars in North America. Kantara also collected 163.85 crore rupees in India. This impacts Varun’s film performance.

Over the past few years Varun Dhawan has been struggling to connect with the masses in the way he used to with films like Badlapur or Humty Sharma ki Dulhania or Main Tera Hero etc. He tried his hands with action genre with projects like Citadel: Honey Bunny and Baby John but both didn’t get the success one had expected. With his latest film Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari he returned to his familir ground; a rom-com with Shashank Khaitan. Together they have delievred films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, this time they also brought together the ensemble cast of Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf. But the film seems to be having very limited success as compared to Shashank and Varun’s earlier venutures. And this is not limited just to India but also in North Ameirca.

‘Actors Are Guarded Because…’: Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor Get Candid | Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

In India the film has collected just Rs 22 crore in its three days at the ticket window with maximum colleciton coming from it’s opening day. In North Ameirca, it has been the reverse the film opened to just USD 24,000 and saw a major jump on second day with the iflm earning USD 63,000 and on Saturday the film minted USD 86,000, thereby taking the overall collection of the film to USD 173,000. The film recieved a muted response as in front of it was Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chaper 1, sequel to his 2022 blockbuster film 2022. The film has till now minted USD 1.95 million in North America and in India it has earned Rs 163.85 crore making it the 11th higgest grossing film of the year. The journey of both the film will be notherworthy from here on. In fact there have been only two films of Varun Dhawan whihc haven’t been able to corss Rs 40 crore mark and those were October and Baby John- it would be interesting to note where does Sunny Sankari end’s walk.
