Bobby recalls how Sunny carried him after a major injury

Bobby Deol recalls how Sunny Deol carried him after a major Barsaat injury; says, ‘I still have rods and screws in my leg’

Bobby Deol has never shied away from expressing his deep affection and gratitude towards his elder brother, Sunny Deol. In a recent interview, Bobby revisited a painful memory from the early days of his career, a serious leg injury on the sets of his debut film Barsaat, and how it was Sunny who carried him through, both literally and emotionally.

Sunny’s quick thinking saved Bobby’s leg

“I still remember, my leg broke in England during the shoot. I was riding a horse, bumped into another horse, lost balance, falling hard to the ground. I saw that one of my legs was completely twisted. I tried to stand but collapsed again. Bhaiya (Sunny) was there, he lifted me onto his shoulders and carried me. All my strength came from him. Just knowing he was there made me feel like nothing bad could happen,” Bobby shared with Radio Nasha Official.

He went on to recall how Sunny took charge immediately, rushing him to a small hospital nearby before arranging an emergency airlift to London when local doctors expressed concern about his leg.“He took me to the nearest hospital, but later I found out that the doctors there had said, ‘We can’t save his leg.’ That’s when Bhaiya got me airlifted to London overnight. I had surgery there. He’s always been there for me.”

‘I still have a rod and screws in my leg’

More than three decades later, Bobby still carries the physical reminder of that incident — metal rods and screws in his leg — but his spirit remains undeterred. “It’s been more than 30 years now. I still have a rod and screws in my leg, and while there’s some discomfort and pain, I’ve gotten used to it. But I can walk, run, dance, fight, jump, do action — what more does one need?”This isn’t the first time Bobby has spoken about Sunny’s unwavering strength and support. During an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show last year, he had said, “If there’s someone in real life who’s truly like Superman, it’s Bhaiya. I’ve never seen anyone stronger. Even after multiple back surgeries, when he’s required to lift someone on set, he does it effortlessly, as if they weigh nothing.”On the work front, Bobby Deol was recently seen in The Ba***ds of Bollywood on Netflix. He will next be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar, followed by Alpha — the next film in YRF’s spy universe alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Alpha is slated for a Christmas 2025 release. Go to Source
