On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vijay Ghat in New Delhi to pay homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of independent India. The solemn ceremony saw the Prime Minister offering floral tributes at Shastri’s samadhi, honoring his legacy of simplicity, integrity, and dedication to the nation. The visit to Vijay Ghat follows PM Modi’s earlier tribute at Rajghat, marking a day of remembrance for two of India’s iconic leaders. The Prime Minister performed traditional rituals, including chanting “Hari Om Tatsal,” reflecting respect for Shastri’s contributions during critical periods of India’s history, including the nation’s development and the promotion of peace and discipline.Today holds special significance as it coincides with Gandhi Jayanti and the festival of Vijaya Dashmi. Across the country, numerous programs are being organized to celebrate these milestones, highlighting the enduring values of non-violence, patriotism, and public service exemplified by both Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The tribute at Vijay Ghat reinforces the continued relevance of Shastri’s ideals for India’s progress, inspiring citizens to uphold principles of honesty, simplicity, and dedication in service of the nation.
