Pakistan senator Aimal Wali Khan has raised serious concerns over Field Marshal and Army chief Asim Munir’s White House meeting and recent American tour.

Khan asked on the floor of the house: “In what capacity and on what grounds did our Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir present rare earth minerals as gift to the US president?”

“Munir looks like a salesman selling something to someone, with the manager PM Shehbaz Sharif watching the drama,” said Khan, adding, “Munir is touring abroad and attending diplomatic meetings…It’s joke on the Constitution and the country…There is no democracy. It is dictatorship in Pakistan. This is contempt of Parliament.”

Khan demanded a joint session of Parliament and sought clarification on the Pakistan-Saudi Defense Deal, Pakistan’s support to Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan and Munir’s meeting with US President Donald Trump.

The photograph, shared by the White House, showed Munir presenting a wooden box that contained the rare earth minerals as Trump looked on during the meeting in the Oval Office. Sharif, who was also present, was seen standing with a smile. Sharif described Trump as a “man of peace” for his “sincere efforts” to end conflicts around the globe, according to a statement from his office. He expressed confidence that under Trump’s leadership, the Pakistan-US partnership would be “further strengthened to the mutual benefit of both countries”, the statement said.

CNN-News18 had earlier reported on Khawaja Asif and Sharif’s statement where they accepted there was a hybrid government in Pakistan.

What Indian intelligence sources say

Khan’s public attack reinforces the long-standing Indian assessment that Pakistan’s civilian leadership is only a joke, said sources. “The Army chief is acting as the real power centre and Munir directly negotiating with the U.S. on minerals, defense and geopolitical deals. This confirms that elected representatives remain sidelined. The gifting of Pakistan’s rare earth minerals to the U.S. signals Islamabad’s desperation to seek Western backing at the cost of sovereignty,” they said.

Internal criticism within Pakistan’s Senate shows cracks in the Army’s narrative management, they said, adding that public questioning of Munir’s constitutional authority indicates growing discontent.
