US President Donald Trump has announced a new round of tariffs aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing. A 10% duty will be imposed on imports of softwood timber and lumber, while kitchen cabinets, vanities, and upholstered wood products will face a 25% levy.
According to the announcement, the new tariffs will come into effect on 14 October. Certain increases, particularly those on finished wood products, are scheduled for a later phase, taking effect from 1 January.
