Iran executed Bahman Choubi-asl for spying for Israel’s Mossad, with at least 10 similar executions recently amid ongoing Iran-Israel tensions.

The recent executions come amid heightened tensions following Iran conflict with Israel in June.
Iran on Monday executed a man suspected of being “one of the most important spies for Israel in Iran,” according to Iranian news outlet Mizan. The alleged spy has been identified as Bahman Choubi-asl.
In the midst of a long-standing conflict with Israel, Iran has carried out numerous executions of individuals accused of having links with Israeli spy agency Mossad and aiding its operations within the country.

“The main goal of Mossad in attracting the defendant’s cooperation was to obtain the database of governmental institutions and create a breach in Iranian data centres, along with which it also pursued other secondary goals, including investigating the route of importing electronic equipment,” Mizan, the judiciary’s news outlet, reported.
The Iranian Supreme Court had rejected Choubi-asl’s appeal and upheld the death sentence on charges of “corruption on earth,” the report added.
Earlier on September 17, Iranian authorities executed a man convicted of spying for Mossad.
According to an AFP report, Babak Shahbazi was hanged after his conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court. He had been found guilty of the capital offences of “corruption on earth” and “waging war against God.”
Mizan reported that Shahbazi worked on the design and installation of industrial cooling systems for companies tied to Iran’s military, security and telecommunications sectors. His access to these sites allegedly enabled him to pass sensitive information to Mossad “in exchange for money and residency in a foreign country.”
In August, Tehran executed Roozbeh Vadi, an employee of a subsidiary of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, after convicting him of leaking information on Iranian nuclear scientists and facilities.
The conflict between Iran and Israel intensified into direct confrontations in June, when Israel launched strikes on various targets inside Iran, including operations involving Mossad commandos deployed deep within Iranian territory.
Executions of Iranians convicted of spying for Israel have notably increased this year, with at least 10 death sentences carried out in recent months.
