‘Will be expanded’: Netanyahu says Gaza strikes will not threaten Abraham Accords; addresses Trump’s 21-point Gaza peace plan

Ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that his country’s recent strike on Hamas leaders in Doha and the ongoing war in Gaza would not endanger the Abraham Accords.“I think there are many possibilities for peace, which I’m discussing with President Trump and his team, and we plan to seize them,” Netanyahu told Fox News. “I think you’ll see that not only are the Abraham Accords not endangered, they’ll be expanded to other countries.”

Netanyahu noted that the accords, brokered in 2020 by Trump and the UAE, have proven “remarkably resilient and strong” despite two years of war, with bilateral trade and cooperation continuing. The Abraham Accords are normalisation agreements signed between Israel and several Arab nations—including the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco—aimed at advancing cooperation and stability in the region. These are considered one of Trump’s signature foreign policy achievements. In the interview, Netanyahu also addressed Trump’s 21-point peace plan for Gaza, which he said is still being developed by the Israeli and US officials. The plan seeks to secure the release of Israeli hostages, dismantle Hamas, and establish new security and governance arrangements.“I hope we can make it a go because we want to free our hostages. We want to get rid of Hamas rule and have them disarmed, Gaza demilitarized, and a new future set up for Gazans and Israelis alike and for the whole region,” Netanyahu said.At the United Nations earlier this month, he rejected the idea of granting the Palestinian Authority control of Gaza, likening it to “giving al Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11.” Asked whether that position still stands, he said he doubted meaningful reform within the Palestinian Authority was likely.“If all of that is turned on its head, there’s a tremendous transformation… good luck. Some people will believe it happens. I don’t think it’s going to happen,” the Israeli premier remarked.Trump, for his part, suggested a major regional shift may be imminent.“We have a real chance for GREATNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. ALL ARE ON BOARD FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FIRST TIME EVER. WE WILL GET IT DONE!!!” he wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, without providing further details. Go to Source
