The Modi government will be taking a big decision on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which completes 100 years on October 1.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a postage stamp and a coin on the RSS. They will be issued on the eve of the centenary celebrations on October 1. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale may also be present at the event.

In the 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM Narendra Modi said, “This Vijayadashami is very special for another reason. This day marks 100 years of the foundation of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. This journey of a century is as amazing, unprecedented, and inspiring as it is. 100 years ago, when the RSS was founded, the country had been bound in the chains of slavery for centuries.”
“This centuries-long slavery had deeply hurt our self-respect and self-confidence. The world’s oldest civilisation was facing an identity crisis. Our citizens were becoming victims of an inferiority complex…The spirit of sacrifice and service and the teachings of discipline, are the true strength of the Sangh,” he said.
“Today, the RSS has been tirelessly and unstoppably engaged in serving the nation for a hundred years. That is why we see that whenever there is a natural disaster anywhere in the country, RSS volunteers are the first to reach there. This spirit of ‘Nation First’ always remains paramount in every action and every endeavour of the lives of millions of volunteers. I offer my best wishes to every volunteer who is dedicating himself to the great yagya of serving the nation,” the PM said.
The RSS will mark its centenary year with events beginning from Vijayadashami on October 2, which will include an address by its chief Mohan Bhagwat in the presence of former president Ramnath Kovind who will be the chief guest.
Events to commemorate 100 years of the outfit will take place till Vijayadashami in 2026, RSS Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said at a press conference in Reshimbagh.
Guests from Ghana, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, UK and USA will also take part in the October 2 programme, which will be covered by foreign media, he said, adding there is tremendous enthusiasm among RSS workers for the centenary year celebrations that will be held nationwide.
‘Sarsanghchalak’ Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale will be visiting all RSS prants in the country through the centenary year, he said.
On the lines of RSS chief Bhagwat’s three-day ‘Sanvad’ programme held in Delhi in August, events will be held in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai, Ambekar added.
A two-day programme will be held in Bengaluru on November 7-8 this year, in Kolkata on December 21 and in Mumbai on February 6 and 7, the outfit’s Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh said.
