Sonakshi Sinha has often talked about her bond with her father, veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha.Back in a 2012 interview with Simi Grewal, she revealed how her father’s conservative nature influenced her upbringing and personal life. “I am the apple of his eyes, and he has pampered me so much. He wants to build a house for me where I can bring my husband. He doesn’t want to let me go away to my husband’s house. He wants to bring my husband to our house,” Sonakshi had said.Her mother, Poonam Sinha explained that Shatrughan’s conservativeness is mainly due to his background and upbringing.
Shatrughan’s thoughts on marriage and dating
The actor-politician has always been protective when it comes to his daughter’s life choices. During the same interview, he expressed his wish to keep her close. He said that one day Sonakshi would go to live with her in-laws, but given a chance and choice, they won’t look for a son-in-law. “We will look for another son for us, who is going to stay with us,” Shatrughan said.He also emphasised the importance of consent and guidance when it comes to dating. He said that there is no harm in dating if you are dating the right person. “I don’t want her to go through the experiences I have gone through. If and when she dates, I am sure it will be in our knowledge, and I hope she does it with our consent,” he said. Shatrughan lovingly referred to Sonakshi as the “answer to my prayers.”
Sonakshi reveals Shatrughan’s favourite film
Even today, Sonakshi cherishes the love and constant encouragement from her father. In a recent appearance on The Right Angle With Sonal Kalra Season 2, she said, “My dad is my biggest fan.” She also revealed that while he supports all her work, there is a special pride he feels for ‘Dabangg’.Sonakshi said that Shatrughan is that typical dad who truly believes his daughter can do no wrong. “But when it comes to Dabangg, there’s just something different in his eyes when he talks about it. That film will always be his favourite,” says Sonakshi.
