Cracking down a day after violent protests in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, police on Sunday detained cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, chief of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, who had called for a protest in support of the ‘I love Muhammad’ campaign. The clash between demonstrators and police broke out following Friday prayers in the city.Harjit Kaur, a 73-year-old Sikh woman who spent 30 years in the United States, shared her ordeal with the ICE after she was arrested and deported to India. “Their behaviour was very bad. I was arrested on 8 September… I was arrested and taken to Bakersfield, where I stayed for 8-10 days. Later, Raza released a video challenging the police’s version of events, claiming he was placed under house arrest and prevented from addressing his followers.
