Vivek on moving on from 2003 controversy with Salman

Vivek Oberoi recalls getting theat calls after 2003 controversy with Salman Khan, says he doesn't hold any bitterness now: 'Difficult to move on from my mother's tears but..'

Vivek Oberoi was a star overnight when his first film ‘Company’ released and it was a hit. Later, with ‘Saathiya’, he further reached stardom of another level and people still find these films cult. However, unfortunately, things took a turn after Vivek’s press conference in 2003 where he accused Salman Khan of threatening him. He was allegedly in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai after she broke up with Khan and this press conference created shock waves in the industry. Since then, Vivek went through a lot of struggle in his career and it took him time to come out of it positively. Today, he’s one of the most successful businessman in the country and has established himself thoroughly as an entrepreneur apart from being an actor. Without taking Salman’s name, when the actor was asked in an interview how he dealt with the 2003 controversy and his perspective through it, as he’s also into spirituality over the years. Vivek said during a chat with Prakhar Gupta, “Ajeeb baat yeh hai ke jab sar pe aafat aati hai, sar pe pange hote hai, tab woh bade lagte hai. When I see the problems of my kids, I laugh because their problems are not even problems. Similarly, I feel when God (Your parampita) sees your problems, he must be thinking, ‘bacche this is a small thing, I’ll make you stronger’. Woh perspective baadmein dikhta hai. You realise it only in hindsight. Now I find it immature and funny. Ek woh joh darr tha, kadvahat thi, bitterness thi, scars the. (When we are facing problems we find them big, but it is only when we look at them later, that we laugh over it. For example, if my children talk about their little problems today, as a father I laugh at them because I know they are small things and we can solve them. Similarly, when you’re going through trouble, God is lookin

Talking about getting over the bitterness and negativity, Vivek said, “I have forgotten what I felt. Woh gaana hai na Dev Sahab ka. Main fikr ko dhuyein mein udaata chala gaya. Joh difficult hai move on karna woh hai maa ki aankhon mein aansu dekhna, pita ke chehre pe shikan. woh cheezein reh jaati hai. Eventually you have to move on from that also because your vibration gets negative. (I have forgotten whatever I felt, but it has been difficult to move on from things like my mother’s tears or the worry on my father’s face. But the goal is to eventually even move on from that because otherwise if you keep those memories, your vibration gets negative. So, it’s best to let go off that as well).”When asked if he ever thought, ‘why me?’, Vivek said, “Main aise point pe tha Jahan pe bhayankar career boycott chal raha tha. Upar se ajeeb aur gareeb phone pe threats aa rahe hai. Kabhi aapko, kabhi mother ko, kabhi behen ko. Yeh ek taraf, doosri aur personal life bhi messy thi. Koi bhi depression mein jaata. (A point came during that time where everyone was boycotting me left and right. No one was ready to work with me, and I was thrown out of the films I had already signed. Moreover, I used to get a lot of calls threatening me. These calls were made to my sister, father and mother as well). Apart from that, my personal life was in a complete mess. It was obvious to be in depression. That’s when I went and cried in my mother’s lap just like a mama’s boy. I asked the ‘Why me?’ question a lot. All she said was, ‘Did you ever ask yourself that question when you were winning awards, making films, and getting followed by fans?’” Go to Source
