In a significant move, the Ministry of Home Affairs has declared parts of Arunachal Pradesh as “disturbed areas” under Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958. The notification comes into effect from October 1, 2025, and will remain in force for six months unless withdrawn earlier.
The order covers Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts, along with areas under the Namsai, Mahadevpur, and Chowkham police stations in Namsai district, which borders Assam.
