During his appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Bobby candidly shared the struggles he faced during a tough stretch in his career, revealing moments of self-doubt and insecurity. He confessed, “My wife used to ask me, ‘Why do you think so little of yourself?’ During those five to six years, I genuinely didn’t think highly of myself. Even at parties, I would stay in a corner, avoid the spotlight. I felt like no one really wanted to talk to me or give me any importance. Jab main jaata tha, mujhe waise bhi importance nahi milti thi. (When I used to go, I would anyway get no attention.) I would just stand there. If someone happened to come by, I’d say hello. But I’d notice how people always hovered around those they thought were important. It used to affect me.”Lessons learned from failure by Bobby DeolThough the struggles took an emotional toll, Bobby gained invaluable insights from his setbacks. As he put it, “Failure has made me realise that nothing should be taken for granted. Success came to me, and then it was gone. If I ever let it get to my head again, it’ll slip away—and hurt even more the next time.”Career beginnings and comebackBobby Deol started his acting career with the movie ‘Barsaat’ in 1995. He became popular for his charming roles in hit films like ‘Gupt’, ‘Soldier’, ‘Ajnabee’ and ‘Humraaz’ in the late ’90s and early 2000s. His career slowed down in the mid-2000s with fewer movies. But he made a big comeback with the web series ‘Aashram’. After that, he acted in ‘Class of ’83’, ‘Love Hostel’, ‘Animal’ and the Netflix series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, where people really liked his strong and mature performances.Upcoming project: ‘Alpha’On the work front, Bobby Deol will soon be seen in the film ‘Alpha’, sharing the screen with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. This Yash Raj Films production is planned for a theatrical release on December 25, 2025.
