Boney’s 1st wife bought rings for him and Sridevi during their wedding

'My first wife Mona bought our rings,' reveals Boney Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor was Sridevi's favourite before he knew about their affair, wrote an emotional letter to his father

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor tied the knot in 1996 and it created a huge stir because he was already married at that point in time. He was married to Mona Kapoor and was a father to two kids – Arjun and Anshula Kapoor. As he left his wife Mona and children, started living with Sridevi, the producer admitted in a recent interview that it was a difficult choice for him. He added that Arjun and Anshula were hugely affected by it and a young Arjun also wrote an emotional letter to his father about why he doesn’t visit them. He confessed that he never was hiding anything from his first wife. Boney said during a chat with Chanda Kocchar, “My first wife, I told her, I had confessed to her.” He added that Mona bought rings for him and Sridevi. He showed his ring and said, “Look at this ring that I am wearing, and the ring that she (Sridevi) was wearing. Both were bought by Mona. I told her openly and that’s how she brought the children up without creating any kind of hatred towards me or the other kids.” Talking about the emotional letter he got from Arjun, Boney Kapoor said, “I have a letter from Arjun where he asked me, ‘Why don’t you come home?’ I used to feel bad. What could I do? I was divided. On one side, was my wife (Sridevi), and on the other side were my kids. I couldn’t leave Sridevi alone, her parents had passed, she was alone. But here, at least my kids were with their mother and they were living with their grandparents.” The producer admitted he was a dilemma and it was not easy for him. He had to choose between his children and Sridevi. “I love my children. I loved them even more back then. And I had to go through things… I had to be very strong to handle some situations. Because I love all my children. And I respected my ex-wife because she never played this game of putting one against the other. Kids felt bad because they couldn’t see their mom suffering, which I understand. And I feel blessed now, all the four of them are together.”During the same interview, Kapoor admitted that Sridevi was really fond of Arjun. He was her favourite when she stayed at his house before they got married. That time Arjun was unaware about their relationship. He revealed, “When Sridevi came to my house, when this bomb blast had happened, she used to get along very well with Arjun. Arjun was her favourite when she stayed as a guest. He didn’t know what was happening. I remember those days vividly but somehow, things don’t go the way you planned.”After Sridevi’s demise, Arjun and Anshula reached out to Sridevi and Boney’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. They were immense support to them and now all the four siblings have a strong bonding which they all cherish.
