Adnan Sami supports India’s ban on Pakistani artists

Adnan Sami supports India's ban on Pakistani artists, did he also take a subtle dig at Diljit Dosanjh? : 'You can't say artist doesn't have boundaries'

India has put a ban on Pakistani artists after the Pahalgam terrorist attack which was followed by ‘Operation Sindoor’. With regards to this decision, Fawad Khan’s film ‘Aabeer Gulaal’ was banned from releasing in India. Moreover, even Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaarji 3’ released all over the world, except India because it starred Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Now singer Adnan Sami has reacted to this and expressed his support towards the ban of Pakistani artists. He elaborated on why it is important. It looks like, he also took a subtle dig at Diljit Dosanjh who had said.In an interview with Grammy with Recording Academy President Panos, Diljit spoke about art and artists having no boundaries. He said, “Countries are at war, and we don’t have control over these things. But I believe music is something that unites nations. I feel blessed to be part of something that spreads love across nations.”

Diljit Dosanjh Asserts Patriotism, Breaks Silence On ‘Sardaarji 3’ Controversy

Adnan reacted to this matter and said, “Politics is something else, nationalism is something else. An artist will always belong to a country. An artist may not be political but definitely a patriot. You can turn around and say, ‘this artist doesn’t conform to any political ideology. Okay that is understandable, you can’t force them. But an artist will always belong to a country.”He added, “You have to stand by the very home you belong to, and be a part of protecting it. Your country is your home. Ultimately if people come to disrupt your dwelling, your residence, wouldn’t the artist stand up and fight, ‘hey don’t mess with my house,’. You can’t say ‘now I’m going to become universal, an artist doesn’t have boundaries’. No I’m sorry Art also has boundary. Would you allow an artist to live in anybody’s house? No he will live in his own house. You cannot turn around and say, ‘my house is my domain but not my country’. No, the country is also your home. I’m very clear about this. An artist regardless of which part of the world they belong to, if they stand up for their country, I respect that.” Further talking about the ban on Pakistani content as well, for example Fawad Khan’s ‘Aabeer Gulaal’, Adnad said, “The point of the matter is right now our country, our home has been threatened, attacked. So, in that situation, we have to stand by and protect our home. Therefore, we have to take a united stand and can’t turn it around. Personally, I come from the boarding school culture. No matter what happened, we would stand together against the teachers. We had that code of ethics. It’s a no brainer. One can’t say an artist is above this. If an artist is expecting the Government to protect them, they also have the responsibility One cannot just stand by and say, ‘we expect you to provide us with facilities as we are citizens but when it comes to fighting outside threates, you are on your own.’ How can you do that?” Go to Source
