Rajinikanth reveals ‘Dharman’ behind-the-scenes changes

Before Sundar C, THIS director was supposed to direct 'Thalaivar 173,' Rajinikanth reveals behind-the-scenes changes

The launch of ‘Dharman,’ starring Rajinikanth for his 173rd movie, became both entertaining and enlightening as the Superstar revealed quite a few secrets about the movie. Addressing the gathering along with producer Kamal Haasan and director Ashwath Marimuthu, Rajinikanth spoke to the audience with characteristic humor and candor. The actor also commented on how difficult the process was to make this movie, but was confident about the people making ‘Dharman.’

Rajinikanth opens up about public scrutiny and speaking in public

Rajinikanth started his speech with humor about the kind of attention he attracts because of his public statements. “Whenever I’m invited to speak, I feel a little hesitant,” he said with a smile. “If I don’t speak, people ask why I’m silent. If I do speak, they ask me to keep talking and create discussions around it.” The veteran actor added that he had learned an important lesson over the years. “People who don’t like us won’t be satisfied no matter what we do. Thinking that everyone will like everything we do is a mistake,” he said. His candid remarks drew applause from the audience at the event.

How Dharman found its director after several changes

Rajinikanth also revealed that Ashwath Marimuthu became the fourth director to be associated with the project. “First, we planned the film with K.S. Ravikumar. Later, Sundar C came on board, but that didn’t work out because of other commitments,” he explained. The actor then revealed that director Cibi Chakravarthi was attached to the film at one stage. “His story was about a nuclear scientist and involved shooting in places like Afghanistan and Russia. We felt it would be better to do that project at a later time,” Rajinikanth said. The search for a new script eventually led the team to Ashwath Marimuthu and his vision for ‘Dharman.’

Superstar expresses confidence in Ashwath Marimuthu

Speaking about the final choice, Rajinikanth said Kamal Haasan initially trusted the team’s judgment without wanting to hear the story. However, he insisted that Kamal listen to the narration before making a decision. “After hearing it, he said the story was very good,” Rajinikanth recalled. The Superstar added that Ashwath now carries a major responsibility but has the support of the entire team. “I really liked his film Dragon. I have complete faith in him and in this project,” he said. With Rajinikanth’s endorsement and the backing of Kamal Haasan’s production house, ‘Dharman’ has already emerged as one of the most anticipated films in Tamil cinema. Go to Source
