Diljit Dosanjh has reached a new career high, earning dual nominations at the 2025 International Emmy Awards for his portrayal in ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. The biographical drama is competing in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category, while Dosanjh himself is in contention for Best Performance by an Actor. This year, Diljit competes against actors including David Mitchell, Oriol Pla, and Diego Vasquez, making the category one of the most anticipated. His nomination signals growing international recognition for Indian cinema and highlights how regional stories are resonating with global audiences.The nominations were officially revealed on September 25 via the International Emmys website, after which Dosanjh shared his gratitude on Instagram. Keeping his reaction modest, the actor-singer credited his director. He wrote, “It’s all because of Imtiaz Ali Sir.” His heartfelt post drew an outpouring of congratulations from fans and industry peers, many celebrating the global recognition of Punjabi storytelling.

Speaking to NDTV about the milestone, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali reacted to these nominations an said, “Thanks for bringing the happy news that Chamkila has been nominated for two International Emmy Awards, for Diljit Dosanjh as Best Actor and for Chamkila as Best Film. A lot of messages have already come from so many people congratulating me, so it means it’s a really big deal. I would like to congratulate the entire team of Chamkila, and also the people of Punjab, who contributed to this film. It is very much a film of that land. I congratulate Diljit Dosanjh twice over.”Released on Netflix in April 2024, Amar Singh Chamkila chronicles the turbulent yet iconic life of the folk legend often hailed as Punjab’s original rock star.
