At least three Palestinians were publicly executed by Hamas in Gaza after the group accused them of “collaborating” with Israel. The killings mark the latest move by Hamas-led authorities to suppress rising armed challenges from rival Palestinian militias that the group claims are working with Israeli backing.

A video circulating on social media shows the moments before the executions. In the footage, a masked man warns “all collaborators” while three blindfolded men kneel on the ground. Moments later, masked gunmen shoot them dead in front of a crowd.

News18 could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

However, Reuters reported that the buildings, road layout and signage seen in the footage match file and satellite imagery of central Gaza City.

Hamas Confirms Killings

A Palestinian security official from the Hamas-run Gaza administration said the executions were carried out by the “Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian resistance.” The group described the killings as “revolutionary rulings” against men accused of aiding Israel.

“These executions send a clear message and serve as a deterrent to anyone tempted to collaborate with the occupation,” the official said.

Israel has previously signaled efforts to fuel internal opposition to Hamas. In June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that Tel Aviv was arming clans hostile to the group, without naming specific factions. One of the most prominent anti-Hamas leaders, Yasser Abu Shabab, is based in Rafah, an area under Israeli control. Abu Shabab denies receiving Israeli support or maintaining any contact with the Israeli military. Hamas-linked officials claim some of the men executed Sunday had ties to Abu Shabab’s network.

This comes as small but growing Palestinian militias opposed to Hamas have surfaced across Gaza, particularly in areas controlled by Israel. These groups- operating in Rafah, Beit Lahiya, Shejaia and parts of Khan Younis- have begun to challenge Hamas’ dominance. Abu Shabab’s faction recently sought recruits online, offering monthly salaries between 3,000 and 5,000 shekels ($890–$1,500).

Palestinian analyst Akram Attallah told Reuters that the executions underline Hamas’ anxiety. He said, “These groups are expanding beyond their usual strongholds, and their attacks show more capability. Hamas, while still powerful, views them as an escalating threat.”
