Sudha Murthy files FIR: Unknown caller threatens with obscene videos; probe under way

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty on Monday filed an FIR in cyber crime police station against an unknown person, who called and threatened to deactivate her mobile phone services.According to FIR, as reported by news agency ANI, an unknown person called her on her mobile phone on 5th September and claimed to be an employee of the Telecommunications department. He told her that her mobile number was not linked to Aadhaar and also stated that obscene videos of her had been circulated, and as a result, the Telecommunication department was going to stop her mobile phone services, stated the FIR. In March 2024, Sudha Murty was nominated by the President of India to the Rajya Sabha in recognition of her contributions in social work, literature, and education. She took oath on March 14 in Parliament House, in the presence of her husband N R Narayana Murthy, with the ceremony administered by former Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. As an MP, she has spoken in favor of policies such as the three-language model in the new National Education Policy, citing her own experience of knowing several languages.
