Kantara 2 witnesses a slowdown in advance bookings

Rishabh Shetty’s 'Kantara: Chapter 1' witnesses a slowdown in advance bookings in the USA

Rishabh Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ propelled the Kannada film industry to national prominence in 2022. Following its success, a prequel, ‘Kantara-Chapter 1,’ is set for release on October 2nd. US advance bookings show a slow start, but a trailer release is expected to boost interest. The film features Rishabh Shetty as a naga sadhu, alongside Rukmini Vasanth and others.

In 2022 Rishabh Shetty with his Kantara put the Kannada industry into the heart of Indian Cinema. The film proved that Yash and Prashanth Neel’s KGF, another box office juggernaut from the Kannada industry, was not a flash in the pan. Kantara went on to make about Rs 310 crore in India, from Hindi market it minted more than Rs 80 crore despite releasing two weeks after’s original Kannada release. With the success of the first part, the demand for more of the same began and actor-director Rishabh Shetty decided to make a prequel to the film. He titled the film Kantara-Chapter 1 and it is slated to release on 2nd October. The advance booking for the film which began in the US markets, it started with a band it minted more than USD 51,000 but over the next 3 days the was able to add just Rs USD 42500, taking the overall booking just above USD 94,000. This could purely be on the fact that the makers have not released any new promotional content for the film thus making audiences unsure what to expect from the film. But in a few hours time the trailer would be dropped and if it lives up to the mark then one can expect the advance booking to take a major jump. Kantara was the first film to mint USD 1 million in the circuit.

Diljit gets emotional over ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, Rishab Shetty shows love

Rishabh plays fierce naga sadhu in the film and is supported in the film by Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah. Recently in an article with Cinema Express, the action director of the film Todor Lazarov spoke about his experience on the film. He stated that he was committed for two films but after meeting actor-director Rishabh Shetty and discussing his vision for the film, he decided to part ways with the other films. Together they shot for about 28 days just to shoot the climax of the film. Kantara sequel will be clashing with Karan Johar backed Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar which features names like Varun Dhawan , Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf and Maniesh Paul. It would be interesting to see two diametrically opposite films perform at the box office on the occasion of Dusshera.
