Another instance of abuse at PM Modi’s mother? BJP shares video of Tejashwi rally; RJD calls it doctored

NEW DELHI: Politics over gaali has taken centre stage in Bihar again, this time with BJP accusing Tejashwi Yadav’s rally of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, Heeraben. The charge, fuelled by a viral video shared by Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and BJP Bihar X handle, has reignited the bitter slugfest between the RJD and the saffron camp just weeks after a similar row erupted over abuses allegedly hurled at PM Modi during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga.Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary posted a video on X claiming fresh evidence of the alleged abuse. “Tejashwi Yadav has once again insulted Modi ji’s late mother. He has once again torn apart the culture of Bihar. In the rally, the RJD workers were hurling as many abuses as they could, and Tejashwi was encouraging them. The mothers and sisters of Bihar will surely hold him accountable for this thuggish mentality and abusive behaviour,” Choudhary charged. PTI news agency said it cannot independently verify the authenticity of the video, which has gone viral across social media platforms. RJD, however, has hit back hard, calling the BJP’s claims a fabrication. In a Facebook post, an RJD MLA said: “Leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav ji is delivering a speech today at Mahua during the Bihar Adhikar Yatra. The speech is available on my Facebook page — you can listen to it. In it, no worker or any person has abused or used foul language for the Hon’ble Prime Minister.” He added, “BJP people are posting videos in which the speech of Tejashwi Prasad Yadav ji has no original audio. The audio has been distorted and manipulated in these videos to defame him.”Tejashwi – seen as the INDIA bloc’s frontline leader in Bihar – launched his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ on September 16 from Jehanabad. In its first phase, the 35-year-old leader toured NDA strongholds including Nalanda, the home turf of CM Nitish Kumar, and Begusarai, the bastion of Union minister Giriraj Singh, before wrapping up in Vaishali on September 20.
