Zubeen Garg Death: Multiple FIRs Against Event Organisers; Assam Police To Probe Case

Assam government would conduct an inquiry into singer Zubeen Garg’s death. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the state government will probe organisers and everyone who was present with Garg in his last moments.

An FIR has been lodged against North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and the singer’s manager Siddhartha Sharma at Morigaon police station.

“Assam Police will probe the death of Zubeen Garg and both Mahanta and Sharma, along with those who were present with the singer in his last moments, will be interrogated,” Sarma told reporters. He also shared an update on X and said all FIRs will be transferred to CID.

CID To Investigate Zubeen Garg’s death

CM Himanta took to X and posted, “Multiple FIRs have been filed against Shri Syamkanu Mahanta and Shri Sidharth Sarma in connection with the unfortunate and untimely demise of our beloved Zubeen Garg. I have directed the @DGPAssamPolice to transfer all the FIRs to the CID and to register a consolidated case for a thorough investigation.”

Meanwhile, Assam CM also spoke to the High Commissioner of Singapore and requested a detailed enquiry.

Speaking to reporters, Sarma, shared an update and said Singaporean authorities have started their investigation, and “as the place of occurrence is not India, we will get the criminal part, if any, from that country and if he was taken from Assam with a wrong intent, we will get this aspect from the state”, the CM said.

“The state government will impartially ascertain all aspects related to his death and all arrangements will be made if anyone wants to give any information or be a witness,” he added.

Popular singer Zubeen Garg’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the country and the entire nation is in grief. The 51-year-old singer died in Singapore on Friday, September 19, after suffering complications during a scuba diving session.
