NEW DELHI: BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Congress following controversial remarks by former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi and Congress leader Sam Pitroda.Malviya slammed the grand old party for its alleged “soft corner for Pakistan” and accused it of prioritising “appeasement over national interest.”In a post on X, he wrote: “It can’t be a coincidence. Not too long ago, rabid Hindu-hater Shahid Afridi showered praise on Rahul Gandhi. Soon after, Sam Pitroda went a step further, declaring that Pakistan felt like home. Congress’s soft corner for Pakistan is not new. It is the same party that accepted Partition, leaving Bharat to pay a heavy price.” He added: “Time and again, Congress has chosen appeasement over national interest. Save Bharat from Congress.”The BJP reaction follows statements by Pitroda, who sparked fresh debate with his foreign policy advice advocating a “neighbourhood-first” approach. Speaking about Pakistan, he said he had “felt at home,” pointing to the “common gene pool” shared by the people.Afridi, meanwhile, praised Rahul Gandhi during a Pakistani TV discussion, calling him a politician with a “positive mindset” and indirectly targeting the Congress neta by noting he has been a “darling” of Pakistan. Afridi was also critical of Prime Minister Modi and his administration.
